Conservative Egress

What if all the political and economic conservatives left the church?  Liberals have been leaving for years but not over economic reasons.  The Pope is pushing for a redistribution of wealth.  And he wants the state to be front and center on this.  Conservatives no like this.  What if the Pope is pealing off a layer of Christianity, filled with rules and regs, to reveal underneath that Christianity is really more akin to socialism than trickle down capitalism?  What bemuses me is that I doubt the conservatives will listen to the Pope on economics, anymore than the liberals will listen about sex and marriage.  No wonder no one listened to Jesus.  His Way challenged us to stop being selfish, self-centered, fearful and lots more we don't want to look at.  I hope the Pope knows that if the rich leave the Church, he will have to sell the Vatican Palace and the museum.  Oh well, he just lives in a hotel anyway.

  1. I'm a little confused! After reading the first sentence my first thought - there would be no money. The Liberals are such babies. If it gets tuff - they leave. Oh well good bye. My question is the state the government? That would be a mistake. A HUGE mistake. Your last sentence "if the rich leave the Church" confirms my first sentence the conservatives are the ones that contribute to the church. If they left there would be no MONEY! What do you think?

  2. The conservative supports the Vatican, but it is because they think the Pope agrees with them on lots of stuff. In Jesus time there was no capitalism. The rich were to take care of the poor. Charity was the focus. Justice is in the New and Old testament, but not in 1st century economics.

  3. There are many liberals in the church. We are the ones who have pealed away the top layer of Christianity to find the beliefs that Jesus taught not the rules and regulations that were made up to control the population. We support the church although we would much rather that the money go toward helping the poor of us instead of building more huge churches and luxurious apartments for the cardinals.
