Forgetting
I put a homily on my blog. Only 12 people read it. Then I got to thinking. The monk is supposed to forget the world. But while the monk is trying to forget the world, the world is forgetting the monk. The world is doing the better job of forgetting. I am becoming anonymous! This is a good thing so I am told, but it does not feel so good.

We're out here. Don't stop
ReplyDeleteFr. Terry, I am listening and my dear wife is listening too. At the dinner table this week, my teen asked, "So what's up with Fr. Terry these days?"
ReplyDeletePlease don't go away, I need you!
Your blog is the only spiritual work of mercy that I can find in this crazy world...
ReplyDeleteto instruct the ignorant, to admonish the sinner,
to comfort the sorrowful...We are here and I am grateful
MANY people read - and appreciate - your blog - MOST just don't leave comments for you to count!
ReplyDeleteYeah I don't do facebbook, but I still want to be your friend! Wasn't sure that you wanted comments
ReplyDeleteFather Terry,
ReplyDeleteI read your blog a couple of times a week. It is saved on my favorites bar. I often think of an entry in the days following.
For example, recently I thought about your entry, "Growth or Comfort." I was troubled thinking of how grateful I am for the blessings in my life, particularly my spouse, my children and my grandchildren. But, I am also deeply appreciateive of my neighborhood, my old friends, and especially the staff at my church. My life is so good and I wonder if I have too much comfort, if I am passing up the chance to grow. I will keep doing this examination of conscience.
Fr. Terry, your entries are elegantly short, but powerfully thought provoking.

Father Terry,
ReplyDeleteI read your blog every morning with my cup of coffee.
Over the Easter Vigil one of my non-Catholic, non-religious friends came to Mass with me. He loved your homily and your energy. Last week he asked about you and I gave him the address to you blog... Now he reads it. Not bad; now non-Catholic, non Religious folk read your blog because the messages are Universal (for the most part) : )
Yeah, I was going to tell you that one was too long. Your short pithy personal ones are usually the best. God is in those too, working in mysterious ways, as they say, but doesn't shout at us.
