Virtue that is unobtrusive, anonymous even, can be very helpful in breaking the shell of self-focus. Example: you walk into a room where all the chairs are askew, not in any order. No one else in the room. You straighten out the chair setup and sit down. Then some other people enter the meeting and note with relief that all the chairs are in place. You say nothing but a hello. That is unobtrusive virtue. It is done without any admiring audience. What is the good? Not the orderly room, so much as you will confront your own need to fabricate your self-importance, the great thing we always have to be. The anonymous rubs up against the need to be noticed, important, essential. No humility there. Not much growth either.

Doing one "good turn a day without getting found out" sure does go a long way! :)
