Is the second drink of alcohol for physical reasons, like thirst? Thirst requires water, not alcohol. I never remember drinking the second drink for thirst. I might be thirsty for a beer or want a glass of wine at dinner to complement the food. But the second of any of this was not to feed the body but to feed the soul. Alcohol never feeds the soul, the interior spirit with the second glass or bottle or can. That interior self thirsts and it is only a spiritual practice that can attend to such a thirst. At least I have found it so.
