Bemused


I was the presider at a parish mass and it came time for announcements.  The deacon got up to give the announcement about when the parish council meets.  It was about wanting some new input for the council.  He said, "We are always looking for new ideas."  My church is looking for new ideas?  I must have missed that memo.

    Father,
    I have just read RENDER UNTO ROME by Jason Barry; you had mentioned on Saturday.
    I am so naive and so upset. I feel betrayed.
    I'm lost now and angry.
    My daughter asks, "Now what do we do"?
    "I know no answer" is all I could say.

    Well, to finish you off, read an article in the current "Economist" magazine about church finances specifically in the United States.
