Change Or Else

A recent commentator at the Bishops' Synod said that we are not going to change any doctrines that the church has been practicing for years.  Prior to the invasion of Poland by the Nazis in 1939, the Polish military was enamored by its use of horses in war.  Military horsemanship had been practiced for a long time.  It was part of their military tradition.  Why change?  The Nazis came at them with modern weapons such as newly designed tanks.  Holding onto something simply because you have always done it that way can be costly.

  2. It is embarrassing to read the bigoted remarks of some of these bishops yet I am encouraged by the brave Cardinals who are willing to speak up!

For years, other churches have welcomed LGBT folks into their communities yet our church is still debating whether - or to what degree - to limit sacramental access to human beings they have diagnosed as being "disordered."

Earlier this week I was so pleased to hear my non-Catholic friends praise Pope Francis for his Christ-like humility and his desire for complete inclusion. Now I am embarrassed that the revolutionary wording has been deleted from the Synod's final report.

Sigh. This is going to take a little longer than we'd thought.

  3. The wording is changed only in the English translation. Italian one is more for the original tone.
