April Fool

If you have an addiction disease, don't ignore it.  Don't be an April Fool.  Addiction has a voice and you can hear it in recovery.  The voice is called self-centeredness.  It tells you that you are different, separate, unique, misunderstood, ignored, not like other people.  A good path of attitudes that will lead to destruction and isolation.  If you listen to this voice you will not get into recovery.  You will just destroy yourself.  Humility says that you are just an ordinary addict, just like all the other addicts.  Skin color, sexual preference or identity, income, ethnicity makes no difference.  Addiction is an equal opportunity destroyer.  Yes, all the spectacular things you did when high were done by countless others and some even more bazaar than your actions.  Animals have learned.  It is safer to be in the herd.

  1. I have found this all to be true, and I'm so thankful to be shoulder to shoulder these days with my herd.
