Perspective

My sister is coming to visit me and we will go to Aspen together to see the sights and eat.  Will we look around in Aspen and say, "Oh, here is where th rich people live," and marvel in envy?  Wait.  I am spending the summer in a beautiful valley in Snowmass, and my sister lives in Marina Del Rey, California.  We have it pretty good.  We can take for granted what is closest to us, our seemingly ordinary, everyday lives.

  2. Fr Terry, I am reminded of the time we asked my Dad, "What are the Seven Deadly Sins"?
    He replied,
"As a keen observer of human nature (PRIDE)
    I am rarely indignant (WRATH)
when I observe the excessive acquisitions (GREED)
of friends and I am not resenful of their wealth and good fortune (ENVY), for I certainly enjoy and am eager for the pleasures of life (LUST) and have enjoyed a second glass of libation or a second helping of apple pie (GLUTTONY), but what really burns is when that conceited little rich friend is too lazy (SLOTH) to pick up the check!"
