A Grace

Grace is a gift.  It is free.  It has no cost.  The ability to do math, to hit a baseball thrown at 90 miles an hour, to be sober when you are an addict, to run fast or for a long time without getting tired are all gifts.  We don't earn them.  The cost comes when we try and do something with the gift, the grace.  It takes work to develop the gift, the talent, to become all that the talent offers you in ability.  In my religion we call discipleship the work we put into the free gift of God's love, invitation, and presence.  I don't earn God, but it takes a lot of effort to follow the invitation as outlined in the Bible.  What is your gift?  What effort are you making to develop it?

  2. To the recent reply of 5:29 am. If you allow the Holy Spirit to work within you you will be amassed. I other words your gifts will be well used if YOU and only you allow this to happen!

  3. Dear Anonymous 1; Please remember that priests don't think of miracles as unusual occurrences - rather they think of them as ordinary occurrences preceded by God's Grace. God grants more grace with more prayer - at least that's how the priests and other teachers seem to set up the equation.
Me, I think God's Grace is always with us. You don't need a miracle - rather you need to pray for faith. You need faith in yourself that your gifts are worthy and available to you and you need faith in God that he will always be with you as you develop these gifts. After all, baby birds wings don't always let them take flight. You too are a baby bird practicing using your gifts.

Who knows, the priest too may be just learning to use his gifts. So, we'll exercise a little charity and feel warmed by our benevolence. We're all just human - but learning to enjoy God's grace.
